Meet Our Summer Student Staff: Samantha Bobga & Eva Cho!

Updated: Jul 8

Here at AYDG, our mission is to foster the physical, mental, and social development of Alberta youth through the sport of disc golf. From running high-quality training events and PDGA-standard tournaments to supporting local clubs across the province, we are dedicated to growing the sport.

This summer, in partnership with PDGA Canada, our mission is getting a major boost! We are thrilled to introduce our two new summer students, Samantha Bobga and Eva Cho, who will be out in the community promoting youth participation and sharing the joy of disc golf.

What They’ll Be Up To This Summer

If you are out at a disc golf course or community event over the next few months, you’ll likely see Samantha and Eva hard at work. They will be:

  • Bringing disc golf to new neighborhoods by setting up temporary pop-up courses in areas without a local course.

  • Teaching the next generation by running introductory sessions at schools, community organizations, and local parks.

  • Helping behind the scenes at tournaments, capturing photos and videos, volunteering on the course, and supporting our players.

Get to Know the Students

Samantha and Eva recently relocated to Calgary from Ontario. While they are brand new to disc golf, they are already diving in headfirst, learning the ropes, and growing with every event.

Samantha Bobga

  • What she's most excited about: Improving her skills and embracing a more active lifestyle. "I am not the most active person, so picking up a sport is going to have a really positive impact on my life!"

  • Future goals: After completing school, Samantha plans to study to become a Registered Nurse.

  • Go-to summer drink: A crisp, cold Sprite.

Eva Cho

  • What she's most excited about: Learning new skills, meeting community members, and bringing great energy to the courses. "I want to make the whole experience as fun as possible for everyone!"

  • Future goals: Eva has her sights set on a career in law.

  • Go-to summer drink: A refreshing cranberry juice.

We are absolutely delighted to have Samantha and Eva on the AYDG team this year. Please join us in giving them a massive Alberta welcome when you see them out on the course. Here's to an incredible, fun-filled summer of disc golf!

Please consider a DONATION to AYDG to help get them around the province and to help with costs of events they may run. Shout out to PDGA Canada who previously donated $500, EDGA $500 and Service Canada for the Canada Summer Jobs grant. They will mostly work out of Calgary but can spend some time elsewhere. DONATIONS are accepted by online banking e-transfer. Send your donations to albertayouthdg@gmail.com. In the message box indicate it is a donation. We are unable to provide a tax receipt at this time, but can provide a general receipt upon request.
