Wrapping Up with Our Incredible Summer Students!

As summer comes to a close, we’re wrapping up a fantastic season with our summer student program. It has been exciting watching these two bright young women dive into the world of disc golf, step into leadership roles, and grow in confidence every single day.

To round out their summer, Samantha and Eva went to the Innova Replay AHE Fundraiser Tournament in Edmonton, where they jumped right in—helping with setup, serving lunch, and spotting on the course.

Before saying goodbye, both students shared a few thoughts on their journey with us:

Samantha: "AYDG was a unique experience that I’ll look back on for years to come. When I started, I didn't even know what disc golf was! But with practice and an eagerness to learn, I was soon leading sessions and teaching kids. This job helped me realize how much I love making kids smile, which has inspired me to pursue a future career in pediatrics.

The disc golf community has been incredible. Everyone at the tournaments was lovely and welcomed my sister and me with open arms. I felt the positive vibes right away. I’m so grateful for this opportunity—it made my summer truly unforgettable!"

Eva: "My experience with AYDG has been wonderful. One of my favorite parts was working with kids, helping them learn the game and seeing them enjoy disc golf. It taught me so much about patience, leadership, and effective communication.

I’m deeply grateful for the people I met and everything I learned along the way. Leaving on my last day, I’m happy to look back on this season with great memories and positivity."

All in all, it was a successful summer! We want to extend a massive thank you to Samantha and Eva. We also want to say thank you to Canada Summer Jobs Service Canada En , PDGA Canada and Edmonton Disc Golf Association  for covering the wages for our Summer Workers.

We wish them the absolute best as they continue their education, and we hope to see both of them out on the course again soon.
