If you want to get better at disc golf, then you must do field work.

Field work builds your muscle memory, helps you to shape your shots with all your discs and lets you learn new types of throws. This practice session is designed to help you maximise your time out on the field.

ree

You will need:

-20 midrange discs

-20 drivers (mix of fairway and distance okay)

Don't have that many discs?

  • In the Calgary region, Alberta Youth Disc Golf will lend you discs; email us!

  • Outside the Calgary region - contact your local club to see if they have discs they can lend you.

  • OR simply use what you have and repeat this practice 3-4 times.

Setup:

-leave midrange discs at A

-leave distance drivers at B/C

Find a field like the image where you have a treeline by A and B.

Midrange discs first at point A. Do backhand hyzer throws. Try to hug the treeline with minimal fade. Imagine a crowd cheering you on! Learn from each flight.

Run to point B area. Gather the midrange discs or throw from where they lie. Now do backhand anhyzer throws. Again try to hug the treeline. Learn from each flight. Leave those discs.

No turn your body to the C position, looking towards E as in the image above. Use distance drivers now. Time to practice big backhand drives! Imagine the crowd again!

Now grab the midrange discs over at point A, then head to point D. Point D is simply you picking a nearby place good for throwing rollers. Throw backhand turnover rollers - or whatever backhand roller you can do! Try to get all your discs finishing in the same area. Leave the discs.

Run to point E and gather the distance drivers. Practice big backhand drives again, throwing then back towards point C.

Now grab the midrange discs from when you did rollers the first time. From a nearby place - point F - throw forehand turnover rollers or whatever forehand roller you can do!

Now reset and repeat, but at points A and B throw forehand, not backhand. If you have a developed forehand, can do the same at points C and E.
